when you edit the settings on the VM to extend the drive you will notice each drive has a scsi ID under the virtual device node. Sometimes 0:0 or 0:1. Which means scsi controller zero: device zero or device one. Now you have to figure out which mount is which by going in to your ubuntu VM and pulling up the properties of each mount. There is usually some command to pull up the scsi information of each drive on the computer. If you have a GUI you can probably look under some sort of system or hardware information monitor. Once you locate this information, match it up and you will know which drive is which. I sometimes keep notes in the annotations/notes of a VM so i dont get confused. Its especially helpful with RDM's.
